Lets Talk about Rolls

We all love the smell of freshly cooked bread and the sight of these simple golden delicacies make your mouth water and stomach growl.

Bread Making is the first step into baking. Perfection the art of baking beautiful and succulent bread and it all a game of ingredients, measurement and creativity that bakes it way toward the wonderful way to you kitchen.

Coming straight from my kitchen this week, are luscious garlic bread rolls. Baked from simple ingredients, in one bowl these delicacies are meant to warm your tea time.

Garlic Bread Rolls

Ingredients:

2 cups of whole purpose flour

1 sachet of instant activated yeast

1 tbsp of caster sugar

1 tbsp of baking soda

1 tsp of salt

1 large egg

2 tsp of olive oil

1 1/2 Luke warm milk

1 cube of butter

2 garlic cloves or garlic powder

Extra flour for dusting

Lets get cooking :)

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all dry ingredient. The flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and the activated yeast and keep aside.

Add the 2 tablespoon of olive oil to the dry ingredients, and mix with a wooden spoon.

After mixing, make a well in the bowl, add in the egg and beat it with a fork. Then gradually combine the egg with the flour and mix with the flour.

Make another well in the flour and add in the luke warm milk and start kneading the dough into a dough until it starts to detach itself from the bowl.

Once it starts detaching from the bowl, flour your working surface, move your dough to the working area and start kneading for 10 minutes. (if you have a Kitchen Aid, knead the dough for 5 minutes on medium speed and the other 5 on high speed)

Cover the dough and leave it to rest for at least an hour in a warm place, preferably your oven itself.

After an hour, remove the dough and knead for another 5 minutes by hand on a floured surface. Pre-heat your oven meanwhile on 250ºC.

Start dividing your dough into 8 parts and roll them out and make knots with the dough.

Butter your earthward and place the rolled knots in the bowl leaving 2 finger distance between each roll. Melt your butter and mix in the crushed garlic or the garlic powder and brush the rolls so as they come out golden in colour.

Cook for 10 - 15 minutes depending on your oven.

Cool then on a cooling rack after they come out and enjoy with some cheese or with a simple cup of english tea. Keep Baking :)
